Opposition in Alberta urges Ottawa to scrap proposed food labelling on Meat
The NDP Oppositions in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are urging the federal government to scrap proposed changes to food labelling on ground beef and pork.
Health Canada is planning to require front-of-package nutrition symbols for foods containing 15 per cent or more of the recommended daily intakes of sodium, sugar and saturated fat.
Saskatchewan's agriculture critic Trent Wotherspoon says the labelling changes will hurt producers by suggesting to consumers that beef and pork are dangerous.
