Dalvir Singh Goldi, a former MLA from the Punjab Congress axis, has left the Congress. In 2022, he came into the limelight when he contested against Bhagwant Mann from Dhuri Vidhan Sabha constituency but lost the election.
In 2017, he was an MLA from this seat. Dalveer Singh Goldi was unhappy with the Congress High Command's decision to give ticket to Bhulath MLA Sukhpal Khaira from Sangrur Lok Sabha seat. Dalvir Singh was associated with the Congress right from his college days. Now there is talk of him joining the BJP, on whose ticket he can be made a candidate from Sangrur.
